Deals, fees and scenarios: the transfer market read with judgement, not in a hurry.

Arsenal announced on 3 September 2026 the permanent transfer of Gabriel Martinelli to Al-Hilal after seven years and 278 appearances. The club publishes no fee, the English press reports 60 million pounds plus a sell-on share: it would be the club's record sale, completed on a day when English clubs could no longer buy.
Torino announced on 3 September 2026 the return of Ricardo Rodríguez, a free agent after two seasons at Betis, on a deal until 30 June 2027 with an option for the following year. The Italian window closed on 1 September: FIFA rules allow a player whose contract has expired to be registered outside the window, and that is the only door left open.
Athletic Club announced on 2 September 2026 the loan of Adama Boiro to West Ham until the end of the season, with an option to buy and a fixed fee that was not disclosed. The left-back born in Dakar and raised in Navarre leaves Athletic, with whom he played in the Champions League last season, for the Championship, and the two counts of his appearances do not match.
Al-Ittihad announced Richard Ríos on 2 September 2026: a loan until June 2027, wages fully covered by the Saudi club and no option to buy. The Colombian midfielder had played six of Benfica's nine games under Marco Silva, almost always off the bench, and the clause that is missing says more than the ones that are there.
Manchester City announced on 1 September 2026 the signing of Enzo Fernández from Chelsea on a contract until 2031. Liverpool announced Bradley Barcola on 31 August 2026, the number 29 shirt and a contract the club calls only long-term. Neither the Liverpool nor the PSG statement carries a single transfer figure: the 125 million euros and the 106 million pounds doing the rounds are the same sum in two currencies, and every version of the price comes from the press. Even his Paris assist count does not match between the two clubs.
Chelsea announced Emiliano Martínez on 30 August 2026 on a three-year contract. Neither club declared a fee: the 7.5 million pounds is a press reconstruction, and it comes eleven days after Aston Villa had already bought the replacement.
